Getting started

What the app does and how to set it up.

Seven stick-man coaches who refuse to let you quit. Every day you get short lines from the coaches you picked, plus audios, wallpapers and home-screen widgets.

Each coach covers one part of life: GRIT (discipline), ACE (study), JOLT (work), DASH (fitness), BOSS (business), NOVA (confidence) and SUNNY (life).

Yes. Pick an anger level in Me → Settings → Anger level:

  • Chill: encouraging, and never insults you.
  • Angry: blunt and sarcastic.
  • Furious: calls you names. You asked for it.

You can change it any time, and it applies to every coach.

Quite a lot. The free version includes:

  • Daily lines from 2 coaches of your choice.
  • Up to 3 reminders a day.
  • The Minimal home-screen widget.
  • Free audios and wallpapers.
  • A daily gift, and Premium items you can unlock for 24 hours by watching ads.

Premium unlocks all 7 coaches, every audio track, wallpaper and widget style, up to 24 reminders a day, and removes ads.

English, Hindi (हिन्दी), Indonesian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Latin America) and French. Change it in Me → Settings → Language; the whole app, the lines and the audio switch right away.

Translations and dubbing are made with automated tools, so a joke may land a little differently. Spotted something odd? Tell us.

No. You can use the app as a guest. Sign in (email, Google or Apple) to back up your streak, saved lines and badges, keep Premium on any phone, and open daily gifts.

The app is meant for people aged 13 and over (or the minimum age in your country). The coaches use strong language at the Angry and Furious levels.

No. The Angry Motivator is entertainment and encouragement, not medical, psychological or professional advice. If you’re going through a hard time, please talk to a qualified professional or a local helpline.

Premium & billing

Plans, the free week, cancelling and refunds.

  • Monthly: billed every month, usually with a free week to try it first.
  • Yearly: billed once a year, usually with a free week to try it first.
  • Lifetime: one payment, no renewals.

Prices are shown in your currency on the Premium screen before you pay. All plans include the same features.

Link to this answer

When the monthly or yearly plan offers a free week, you pay nothing today. We remind you before it ends. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before day 7, the plan you picked starts and your store account is charged.

To avoid being charged, cancel in your store before the week ends (see How do I cancel?). You keep Premium until the free week is over.

Subscriptions are managed by the store you paid with:

  • Android: Play Store → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → The Angry Motivator → Cancel.
  • iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → The Angry Motivator → Cancel.

You keep Premium until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.

Open the Premium screen and tap Restore. Make sure you’re signed in to the same Google Play or Apple account you bought with.

If you bought it while signed in to the app, sign in to the same app account on this phone too. Still nothing? Write to us with your order number (it’s in the store’s receipt email).

Course buyers get lifetime Premium, free. Install the app and sign in with the same email you bought the course with: on the first screen tap I already have an account (or later, Me → Save my progress), then type that email to get a code, or use Continue with Google if it’s a Google account. Premium turns on by itself.

Signing in with Apple? Choose Share My Email, not Hide My Email. Bought with a different email? Write to us with the email you used at checkout.

Yes. Sign in to the app with the same account on the other phone and Premium comes with you, including between Android and iPhone. On the same store account you can also tap Restore on the Premium screen.

Payments go through Google Play or the App Store, so refunds are handled by them:

Yes. Tap a locked coach, audio track or wallpaper and watch 3 short ads: it’s yours for 24 hours. You can do this twice a day. Day 7 of the daily gift also gives you 24 hours of full Premium.

Open the app once a day to collect a gift: a Premium wallpaper, an audio track or a coach for 24 hours. Gifts follow a 7-day cycle, and day 7 is 24 hours of full Premium. Gifts are saved to your account, so you need to be signed in to open them.

Yes. Premium members never see ads.

Account & data

Signing in, your data and deleting it.

Go to Me and tap Save my progress (or sign in from the Premium screen). You can use:

  • Email: we send you a 6-digit code. No password needed.
  • Google or Apple.

Had an account in the old version of the app? Use Have a password? Sign in with it and enter the same email and password as before.

  • Check your spam or promotions folder.
  • Make sure the email address is spelled correctly.
  • Wait a minute, then tap Resend. Each new code replaces the previous one, and codes expire after 10 minutes.

Still nothing? Write to us from the same address.

If you were signed in, install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same method (email, Google or Apple). Your streak, saved lines, badges and Premium come back.

If you used the app as a guest, your progress lives only on the old phone. Sign in there first to back it up, then sign in on the new one.

Go to Me → Settings → Your name. It’s only used for the coaches to talk to you.

Link to this answer

That’s fine. Apple gives us a private relay address that forwards to your real inbox. To delete that account, use the app (Me → Settings → Delete account), or write to us from your Apple ID email.

In the app: Me → Settings → Delete account. Without the app: use the account deletion page.

Your account and its data are removed from our systems right away and from backups within 30 days. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription, so cancel it in your store first.

Me → Settings → Start over erases the app’s data on this phone only: your answers, streak and saved lines here. If you’re signed in, your account stays safe and comes back when you sign in again. To remove the account itself, use Delete account.

Only what the app needs: your account (if you sign in), your settings and progress, purchase status, crash reports and, in the free version, what our ad partner needs to show ads. We never sell your data. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Where the law requires it (for example in the EU and the UK), go to Me → Settings → Ad privacy choices to review or change your consent. Going Premium removes ads completely.

Coaches, lines & audio

Streaks, badges, audio and wallpapers.

Go to Explore and tap a coach to read their lines. Premium unlocks all seven; on the free version you can try a locked coach for 24 hours by watching ads.

On Today, tap the heart to save a line; you’ll find it in Me → Saved lines. Tap the share button to send it to a friend who needs it.

Open the app at least once a day and your streak grows by one. Miss a day and it starts again from 1, but your best streak is kept. If you’re signed in, your streak is backed up to your account.

  • 7 days, 30 days and 100 days: reach that streak.
  • Early bird: open the app before 8 a.m.
  • Night owl: open the app after 11 p.m.

See them in Me → Badges.

Reminders & widgets

Notifications and your home screen.

Go to Me → Settings → Reminders. Choose how many reminders you want and the time window they arrive in. The free version allows up to 3 a day; Premium allows up to 24, and lets you pick which coach yells at each time.

Link to this answer

  • Make sure notifications are allowed for The Angry Motivator in your phone’s settings.
  • Android: turn off battery optimization for the app (Settings → Apps → The Angry Motivator → Battery → Unrestricted).
  • iPhone: check that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn’t silencing them.

Then open Me → Settings → Reminders once, so the app schedules them again.

Link to this answer

  • Android: open Me → Widgets and tap Add to home screen. Or press and hold your home screen, tap Widgets and pick The Angry Motivator.
  • iPhone: press and hold an empty spot on your home screen, tap + (or Edit → Add Widget), search for The Angry Motivator and add it. It also works on the lock screen.
Link to this answer

  • Minimal (free): just the line.
  • Coach (Premium): the line with the coach’s color and stick man.

Choose in Me → Widgets. The widget shows a new line every hour.

Link to this answer

Open the app once: it refreshes the widget’s lines. On Android, also turn off battery optimization for the app (see My reminders don’t arrive). If it’s still stuck, remove the widget and add it again.

Troubleshooting

When something doesn’t work.

Mostly. Lines you’ve already loaded keep working offline, and so do reminders. Audio, wallpapers, signing in and purchases need an internet connection.

Link to this answer

New lines are translated automatically, usually within minutes of being added. Until then you see them in English; reopen the app a little later.

Link to this answer

First, update the app from your store and restart your phone. Crash reports reach us automatically (they contain no personal content), so we’re usually already on it.

If it keeps happening, write to us with your phone model, the app version and what you were doing.

Link to this answer

Please do. Write to us. We read everything, even the angry ones.

Link to this answer

Still stuck? Good. That means you’re trying.

Tell us your phone model, the app version and what happened. We answer within two working days.
